Notes | Inspection of 2012 Subaru Outback found the vehicle has normal wear and tear, with some cosmetic and mechanical issues found. Exterior panels checked fair, right side of vehicle has been repainted. Right Rear door and 1/4 panel are dented. Some cosmetic damage to front and rear bumpers, body trim moldings, scratches on left driver and rear door. Inspection of engine bay found engine and transmission found recent engine work completed, but there is oil burning smell before and after road test. Power steering pump is making a whining noise, battery is weak and engine is slow to start. Front and rear tires are at 2/32nds or less, in need of replacement. Front and rear brakes are worn to low level, and rotors are rusted, in need of replacement. Rear differential is leaking fluid. Front and rear shocks are leaking. Subframe is rusting at welding points, exhaust is rusted. The interior shows normal wear to seats and trim, and all interior features working at time of inspection. Road test found the engine and transmission okay. Steering wheel effort is excessive, possibly the power steering pump or steering rack starting to fail. Steering wheel free play and suspension clunking noises, and some vibration from the engine bay, feels like the engine or transmission mount has some wear, but overall normal for age and mileage of car. Under braking, there is a front end vibration, suspect brake rotors are warped, with worn suspension components causing issue to become worse. See images for further detail. |
